The home file

A project’s home can be saved as one file, <home>.home.json: from the project menu, Export the home (.json); and read back into a project with Import a home…. Importing a file gives back exactly the home it was exported from (see Printing and exporting).

This page is for whoever reads that file outside the editor.

The file says its format’s version in schema (today 6). A file of another version is migrated by a script, never guessed: the editor refuses a file it can’t read and says why, element by element.

Field What
schema, id, name, address the format’s version, the home’s id, the name and address its author wrote
site where it stands, for the sun: latitude, longitude, north
sheets each plan’s paper: its scale (pxPerM, units per metre: 100 for a new home, so centimetres) and the drawing laid on it
levels the floors of the building, each with its elevation in metres
areas the parts of the house and their kind (dwelling, garage, cellar, outdoor, zone)
plans what is drawn on each level: its heights (with the slab over it, each saying where it comes from), walls, rooms, openings, plates, lights, awnings, stairs, blocks, claddings, dimensions and notes
presentations how the home is shown: plans in their real place or arranged, the areas shown, where the walk starts
openingTypes the house’s kinds of windows and doors
floors the floors made by the author, and copies of their kits
settings what new things start from: the kind of house and how it was built, wall thicknesses, plates’ heights (each saying whether it was typed or is typical), the rooms’ floor, the type each opening tool starts with
setup whether the new home’s guided setup was gone through, and its checklist put away
products, inventory, groups, sets the catalogue’s products the home uses (a copy each), its pieces placed or not, and how they are grouped
  • Points and lengths on a plan are in its sheet’s units: pxPerM of them per metre (centimetres for a home started in Blupinta).
  • Heights and thicknesses are in metres; angles in degrees.
  • Where a measure comes from (a drawing, a photo, a measure taken, an assumption) is in its source.
  • Names are the author’s own words, in their language: they are not translated.

A drawing under the plan is named in the file by its image (the project’s file, by its hash), not carried inside it: the file stays small. The images of the projects you own come with Download your data, under Your data in your account (see Your account).
